What's more American than the Beach Boys?

This 4th of July (the 4 year anniversary of Mike's proposal to me, and Independence Day) we were fortunate to get tickets to Stadium of Fire at BYU where we saw American Idol, Scotty McCreery, and the Beach Boys. They gave an amazing concert! It was really fun to dance and sing a long with all the American classic songs.

What a fun night! The fireworks were amazing too! I am such a little kid when is comes to fireworks. I throw a tantrum if unable to see them (it's happened in the not-so-distant past), and I sit there watching them with my eyes wide and my mouth in a permanent smile when I do get to see them. I don't know what it is...I'm fascinated by them! Not many things are better than a good fireworks show!
I love freedom! I'm so grateful to live in "the land of the free and the home of the brave!" God Bless America!

My husband loves me

When I've worked all night long at the hospital with laboring women and screaming babies, I am so ready to come home to comfy bed and sleep the day away. Sometimes that is a challenge since it's light outside and there are noises from people awake and moving around outside my apartment. That's why my husband makes a special effort to hang thick blankets over the window (even tape them in place), position fans in the room for white noise and so it doesn't get too hot, and turn down the bed. He takes such good care of me!

Also, after riding around in our 1987 Buick (no AC, no air bags, and a ticking time bomb) for a few weeks this summer since Mike needs the better car for his summer internship commute, Mike bought us a new car. Meet out new little "Pumpkin:"
Ok, maybe this one was a little for us both, and so far, he's been driving Pumpkin the most, but I'm still really glad we finally made the move to get a new car and get rid of that old hunk'o'junk (still working on that part though).

I like to make stuff

I have a desire to be creative! I'm pretty sure I've always been this way. Whether it's learning a dance routine (like when I was younger and on cheer/dance teams), or sewing a dress, or painting a picture, or making over a room, I just love to make things. I just get a kick out of do-it-yourself projects. Some day, I would love to have a whole room entirely dedicated to crafting/sewing.

Some of my more recent projects:

I made this quilt for my Father-in-law out of all of his old boy scout and girl as camp t-shirts and patches that I found in a box in their basement. He loved it! We gave it to him on Father's Day and he cried when he saw all the memories sewn together. Totally worth all the effort!

Saw this on interest and wanted to try it. It's t-shirt scraps rolled into roses and pinned to a wreath. Super easy and strangely therapeutic to make.

I saw this episode of Rachel Ray where this lady wore only used clothing that she'd made over or re-done in some way and it was so inspiring! I added that scarf to an old white t-shirt and those buttons to an old pair of white flats. I also recently learned how to make a variety of flowers out of fabric and ribbons etc. from my cousin Christiana. So fun!
